What you need to know about your Can-Am x3 charging system

Does the Can-am Maverick X3 have an alternator?
The Can-am Maverick X3 does have an alternator. The Alternator is a vital part of the electrical system in your vehicle, and it is responsible for charging the battery and powering the electrical system. It is with the water pump gear and impeller. It is quite a project to change out an alternator, and I only recommend doing so if you have the tools and manual. Otherwise, please take it to someone qualified.
There is an upgrade for your Alternator to be installed on the outside, and you can find it here.
Where is the can am x3 Battery?
The batter is behind the passenger seat for 2 seats, and if you have a 4 seater, it's in the back passenger seat. We recommend removing the seat to have some room to work with.
Stock battery and problems
The stock batter spec are 18.9 Ah(20HR) / 270A (CCA)
You would think that is 18.9 amps for 20 hours, but it's really 18.9/20hours which would come to .945 amps continuously for 20 hours. This is causing you to have a ton of electricity issues if you want to hook up anything else to your Can-AM like a stereo or anything that uses more than 1 amp.
Solution: You can get a bigger/ better battery or upgrade your alternate battery.
You can upgrade your Alternator and get 75 amps at 12.6 V, which will be enough to power everything you have and more. We recommend both changing out the battier and Alternator for maximum performance.
